POSITION SUMMARY

The Dry End Production Supervisor role will be accountable for the Planer production by managing staff, participating in the overall administration of ensuring safety, process, procedures, policies, production and accountable for metrics and planer performance on a day-to-day basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise daily operations of the planer mill, including scheduling, production planning, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor product quality through regular inspections and adherence to specifications. Implement corrective actions as needed to maintain standards.
  • Promote continuous improvement through employee development, streamlining production processes, and cost-effective system improvements.
  • Improve and maintain up-time performance consistent with company goals and standards.
  • Lead a culture of excellence in maintenance and operation of the company’s equipment.
  • Work with other departments in efforts to identify improvement opportunities and to trouble-shoot and develop practical solutions for problem areas related to machine center, and other production equipment performance.
  • Efficient use of reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met.
  • Promote and enforce safety protocols to create a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for ensuring a consistently improving culture of safe work practices and superior industrial housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure the safety of all associates and contractors by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns, role model safe work practices and lead safety meetings and initiatives.
  • Lead and mentor operators and production staff. Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Provide exemplary leadership, training, motivation and communication with employees to promote personal development and teambuilding among experienced and entry level employees.
  • Proactive leadership that fosters teamwork and enhances BLC culture and standards
  • Leads the team by proactively resolving employee issues, builds teamwork, encourages innovation, and ensures adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner
  • Work closely with inventory and logistics teams to manage raw materials and finished product inventory levels. Ensure efficient material flow and timely deliveries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings. Implement best practices to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports. Provide regular updates on production metrics, challenges, and achievements to management.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and operational. Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of sawmill equipment, effectiveness in process improvements and maintaining successful up-time rates.
  • Must have working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and other PC-based production and operations applications.
  • Problem solving/analysis and investigative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be able and willing to work a flexible work schedule
